Aprecap 125/80mg - Aprepitant Capsules

Aprecap 125/80 mg contains Aprepitant, a neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor antagonist used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy and surgery. It works by blocking signals in the brain that trigger vomiting, making it especially useful for patients undergoing highly emetogenic chemotherapy (HEC) like cisplatin-based treatments.

Product Introduction:
Aprecap 125/80 mg is a combination therapy designed to prevent acute and delayed nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy or surgery. It is usually prescribed alongside corticosteroids (Dexamethasone) and serotonin (5-HT3) antagonists (Ondansetron/Granisetron) for maximum effectiveness.

Uses of Aprecap 125/80 mg
Aprecap is prescribed for:
  1. Prevention of acute and delayed chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) – Especially with cisplatin-based regimens.
  2. Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) prevention – Reduces vomiting after surgery.
  3. Prevention of nausea in radiation therapy – Helps in whole-body radiation-induced nausea.
  4. Enhancing the effectiveness of standard anti-emetic therapy – Used with Ondansetron or Granisetron.
  5. Improving patient compliance in cancer therapy – Helps patients complete chemotherapy cycles without vomiting-related discomfort.

How Aprecap 125/80 mg Works (Mechanism of Action):
  1. Aprepitant blocks the neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptors in the brain, which prevents substance P from binding.
  2. Substance P is responsible for triggering vomiting, especially in chemotherapy patients.
  3. By blocking this pathway, Aprecap prevents both immediate (acute) and delayed vomiting caused by chemotherapy or surgery.
  4. Works best when combined with serotonin (5-HT3) antagonists like Ondansetron and corticosteroids like Dexamethasone.

Recommended Dosage for Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV):
  1. Day 1 (Before chemotherapy): 125 mg taken 1 hour before chemotherapy.
  2. Day 2 & Day 3: 80 mg once daily, taken in the morning.
