Product Introduction:
Ab-Sun 250mg is a prescription medication used in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer, specifically metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) and metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC). It functions by reducing androgen (testosterone) production, which slows the progression of prostate cancer. It is usually prescribed in combination with prednisone or prednisolone to minimize certain side effects.

Uses:
Ab-Sun 250mg is prescribed for:
  1. Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC): Advanced prostate cancer that continues to grow despite low testosterone levels.
  2. Metastatic Hormone-Sensitive Prostate Cancer (mHSPC): Newly diagnosed prostate cancer that has spread but still responds to hormonal treatment.
  3. Lowering Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Levels: Helps control cancer progression by reducing PSA levels.
  4. Slowing Tumor Growth: Extends survival and delays disease progression.
  5. Relieving Symptoms of Advanced Prostate Cancer: Helps with pain relief, urinary symptoms, and overall quality of life.
  6. Combination with Prednisone: Used to reduce side effects like high blood pressure and fluid retention.

How It Works (Mechanism of Action):
Ab-Sun 250mg contains Abiraterone Acetate, a CYP17 enzyme inhibitor.
  1. The CYP17 enzyme plays a key role in the production of androgens (testosterone and related hormones).
  2. Prostate cancer cells depend on androgens for growth.
  3. Abiraterone blocks CYP17, leading to a significant reduction in androgen production from:
    1. Testes
    2. Adrenal glands
    3. Tumor cells
  4. This results in tumor shrinkage and slows down cancer progression.

Dosage:
  1. Recommended dose: 1,000 mg per day (4 tablets of 250 mg each)
  2. Taken once daily on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals).
  3. Must be taken with prednisone (5 mg twice daily) to reduce side effects.
Always follow your doctor’s prescription carefully.

Method of Administration:
  1. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water.
  2. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets.
