Product Intro:
Imatero 400mg contains Imatinib Mesylate, a revolutionary targeted cancer therapy classified as a Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor (TKI). Manufactured by Hetero Healthcare, it is a cost-effective generic alternative to the brand Glivec, widely used in the management of blood cancers and other solid tumors. Imatero works by interfering with proteins that signal cancer cells to multiply, thus controlling the disease progression.

  1. Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) – Philadelphia chromosome positive
  2. Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST)
  3. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) – Philadelphia chromosome positive
  4. Myelodysplastic/Myeloproliferative Diseases (MDS/MPD)
  5. Systemic Mastocytosis
  6. Hypereosinophilic Syndrome (HES)/Chronic Eosinophilic Leukemia (CEL)

  3. Store in the original container
  4. Keep out of reach of children and pets

How it Works (Mechanism of Action):
Imatinib inhibits the BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase, an abnormal enzyme produced in CML that causes rapid cell proliferation.
  1. It blocks the signal pathways that promote cancer cell division
  2. Also inhibits c-KIT and PDGFR, relevant in GIST and other cancers
  3. This leads to suppressed tumor growth and eventually, cell death

Side Effects:
Common Side Effects:
  1. Nausea
  2. Vomiting
  3. Muscle cramps
  4. Diarrhea
  5. Skin rash

  4. Severe skin reactions
  5. GI bleeding
  6. Tumor lysis syndrome (rapid tumor breakdown)

Dosage (Typical Recommended Dose):

  4. Use effective contraception while on therapy
  5. Avoid contact with people who have infections due to immune suppression

Drug Interactions:
  1. Avoid with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole) – increases drug levels
  2. Avoid with CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampin, phenytoin) – lowers efficacy
  3. Can interact with acetaminophen, warfarin, and antifungals
  4. Grapefruit juice may alter Imatinib levels – avoid consumption

Allergies:
  1. Do not take if allergic to Imatinib or any tablet ingredient
  2. Signs of allergy: rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing
