How it Works (Mechanism of Action):
Gemcitabine is converted intracellularly into active metabolites that inhibit DNA synthesis. It incorporates into the DNA chain, leading to premature termination, and also inhibits ribonucleotide reductase. This dual mechanism halts cell division and induces cancer cell death.
