Product Intro:
Glioz 20mg is a low-dose chemotherapy capsule that is part of combination treatment regimens for brain cancers. It is often used during the initial phase of treatment or in patients requiring dose adjustments due to age, weight, or other health conditions.

Uses:
  1. Treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM)
  2. Management of anaplastic astrocytoma in relapsed or refractory cases
  3. Combination therapy with radiation in GBM
  4. Maintenance therapy after radiotherapy
  5. Dose adjustment in patients with renal or hepatic impairment
  6. Used in specific off-label oncological protocols

Storage Instructions:
  1. Store at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F)
  2. Keep in a dry, cool place, protected from light and heat
  3. Keep out of reach of children
  4. Do not store in bathroom or humid areas

How it Works (Mechanism of Action):
Temozolomide gets converted in the body to MTIC (monomethyl triazeno imidazole carboxamide), which methylates the DNA at specific sites. This damages the DNA strands and leads to the death of rapidly growing cancer cells, especially in brain tumors.

Side Effects:
Common Side Effects:
  1. Fatigue
  2. Constipation
  3. Nausea
  4. Loss of appetite
  5. Skin rash
  6. Headache
Serious Side Effects:
  1. Neutropenia (low white blood cells)
  2. Thrombocytopenia (low platelets)
  3. Infections
  4. Liver toxicity
  5. Rare but serious pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) when combined with radiation

Dosage (Typical Recommended Dose):
  1. The dose is based on body surface area (BSA) and may include 20mg in combination with other strengths.
  2. For example, during radiotherapy: 75 mg/m² per day, and during maintenance: 150–200 mg/m² once daily for 5 days every 28 days
  3. Glioz 20mg is useful for fine-tuning the total dose

Method of Administration:
  1. Take orally with a full glass of water
  2. Take on an empty stomach or at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food
  3. Do not crush or chew the capsule
  4. Swallow whole, and if vomiting occurs after dosing, do not repeat the dose

Precautions:
  1. Regular blood monitoring is required (CBC, liver function)
  2. Use effective birth control during and after treatment (up to 6 months)
  3. Avoid if pregnant or breastfeeding
  4. Patients with history of myelosuppression should be monitored closely
  5. Avoid contact with live vaccines

Drug Interactions:
  1. Increased risk of bone marrow suppression with other myelosuppressants
  2. Corticosteroids may increase risk of infection
  3. Caution with drugs affecting liver enzymes
  4. Avoid alcohol and grapefruit juice

Allergies:
  1. Not to be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to Temozolomide or Dacarbazine
  2. Symptoms of allergy: rash, itching, swelling, shortness of breath

Overdose Information:
  1. Overdose may cause severe hematological toxicity (bone marrow suppression)
  2. Seek immediate medical attention and supportive care
  3. No specific antidote

Missed Dose Instructions:
  1. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered on the same day
  2. If remembered the next day, skip the missed dose
  3. Do not double the dose to compensate

Additional Notes:
  1. Handle capsules with care—wear gloves if administering for someone else
  2. Regular follow-up and scans are important to monitor tumor response
  3. Inform healthcare providers of any new symptoms, especially fever, chills, or bleeding
