Product Intro:
Neukine 300mcg is a recombinant human Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor (rHuG-CSF) developed by Intas Pharmaceuticals. It is commonly prescribed to reduce neutropenia-associated complications in patients undergoing cytotoxic treatments.

Uses:
Neukine 300mcg is used for the following indications:
  1. Chemotherapy-induced neutropenia
  2. Neutropenia after bone marrow or stem cell transplantation
  3. Chronic neutropenia (congenital, cyclic, idiopathic)
  4. Neutropenia related to HIV infection or treatment
  5. Mobilization of peripheral blood progenitor cells for collection
  6. Neutropenia due to radiation exposure

Storage Instructions:
  1. Store between 2°C and 8°C (refrigerator)
  2. Do not freeze
  3. Keep away from direct sunlight
  4. Keep in original packaging until ready to use
  5. Allow to reach room temperature before administration

How it Works (Mechanism of Action):
Filgrastim binds to specific receptors on hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow. It stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of neutrophil precursors and enhances the function of mature neutrophils, thus increasing their count and improving infection-fighting ability.

Side Effects:
Common Side Effects:
  1. Bone or joint pain
  2. Fever
  3. Fatigue
  4. Headache
  5. Nausea
  6. Injection site reaction
Severe Side Effects:
  1. Splenomegaly or splenic rupture
  2. Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
  3. Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)
  4. Capillary leak syndrome
  5. Low platelet count (thrombocytopenia)

Dosage (Typical Recommended Dose):
  1. Adults (chemo-induced neutropenia): 5 mcg/kg/day subcutaneously or IV infusion
  2. Stem cell mobilization: Up to 10 mcg/kg/day
  3. Dosage depends on patient condition and physician's recommendation

Method of Administration:
  1. Administered subcutaneously (SC) or via intravenous (IV) infusion
  2. Usually given once daily, preferably at the same time each day
  3. Can be self-administered if trained, or by healthcare professional

Precautions:
  1. Monitor white blood cell counts regularly
  2. Use with caution in patients with sickle cell disorders
  3. Not recommended for myeloid malignancies unless under specialist care
  4. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use
  5. Do not shake the vial or syringe, as this may affect drug activity

Drug Interactions:
  1. No major drug interactions reported
  2. Inform doctor if using lithium, as it may enhance leukocyte production
  3. Always disclose all medications and supplements to the healthcare provider

Allergies:
  1. Contraindicated in patients with allergy to Filgrastim or E. coli-derived proteins
  2. Discontinue immediately in case of anaphylaxis or severe allergic reactions

Overdose Information:
  1. Overdose may cause leukocytosis (high white blood cells) or bone pain
  2. Supportive care and dose adjustments are advised in case of overdose

Missed Dose Instructions:
  1. If a dose is missed, administer it as soon as remembered
  2. Skip it if it's nearly time for the next dose
  3. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one

Additional Notes:
  1. Frequent CBC monitoring is necessary during therapy
  2. Not a chemotherapy drug, but often given alongside chemotherapy
  3. Patients should report any signs of infection, abdominal pain, or respiratory issues promptly
