How it Works (Mechanism of Action):
Gemcitabine is a pyrimidine nucleoside analog. It is incorporated into DNA during the S-phase of cell division, halting DNA synthesis. It also inhibits ribonucleotide reductase, which is necessary for DNA replication, thereby inducing cancer cell death.
